Our map display system, which leverages open-source libraries like Leaflet and OpenLayers, is powered by a central configuration of Tileservers. A Tileserver provides the image or vector tiles that form the base layer (the “look and feel”) of your map.
We have over 50 tile servers available for Leaflet and OpenLayers from 9 providers. When you select a Provider (or engine preset powered by Leaflet/OpenLayers), the available tile server list automatically updates to only allow tilesets from that provider. This means you only need to set up one key (if required) to access all subsequent map styles from the same provider.
Available Tile Servers #
The table below organizes the available map styles (Tilesets) by their primary Provider, making it easy to see all the options available once a main Provider is selected.

Changing your Tile Server #
Once you have selected your mapping engine/provider you can control the default tileserver all maps will use, from the service provider.
- Navigate to Maps > Settings > Advanced
- Change your selection for your Map Style (Or Tile Server URL for some engines)
- Optionally, if needed add a key for the server.
- Not needed if you are using a preset like Azure Maps, Stadia Maps, Zero Cost, MapTiler, LocationIQ, as these use the engine key you provide during setup
- Save your settings
Customizing Tilesets Per Map #
Once you have selected a Provider, you have the flexibility to choose a specific Tileset for each individual map you create.
This is a powerful feature that allows you to:
- Use a Satellite view for one map and a Road view for another, even if they share the same provider.
- Create one map with a Dark map style, and another with a Light map style
Additionally, some tilesets contain multiple layers, which means you can allow users to switch between, for example, Satellite view and roadmap in realtime!
How to Change Tilesets for each map #
- Navigate to Maps > And edit your map
- Click on Settings > Themes > Tileset
- Select your preferred override tileset for this map
- Save the map to see the change

Applying Preset Filters to your tileset #
In some cases, you may want to apply a preset filter to the tileset for a unique look that aligns better with your needs.
- Navigate to Maps > Edit > And edit your map
- Click on Settings > Themes > Presets
- Select a preset that fits your needs
- Save your map

Customize Tilesets further #
If you find you need to adjust the tileset further, to better fit your branding or site colour scheme, you can use our map theme editor to adjust the tiles with our unique filter system.
- Navigate to Maps > Edit > And edit your map
- Click on Settings > Themes > Theme editor
- Adjust your filters as preferred
- Save your map

What about Google Maps? #
Google Maps does not use a tileserver system, and instead uses a unified tile system which you can control with styles, either locally or via the cloud.
