A major enhancement in Version 10 is the introduction of full info-window support for all map shapes.
You can now attach interactive, descriptive pop-up windows to your Polygons, Polylines, Circles, and Rectangles, transforming them from simple visual elements into engaging map features.
What Fields are Supported #
Just like with standard markers, these info-windows provide critical information to your users when they click on a specific shape on the map.
The Shape Info Window editor now supports several familiar and powerful fields:
- Title: A concise, bold title that appears at the top of the pop-up window (e.g., “Park Boundary” or “Delivery Zone”).
- Description: Use the full text editor to add detailed information, including paragraphs, links, and HTML content, to provide context about the shape.
- Link: Provide a URL that the user can click on from within the info-window, directing them to a relevant page on your website (e.g., a service page or a detailed property listing).
- Category: Assign one or more categories to your shape. This is critical because it allows the shape to be used with the front-end map filtering system, enabling users to toggle shape visibility based on their selections.
How it Works #
When adding/editing any shape (Polygon, Polyline, Circle, or Rectangle) in the map editor, you will see these new fields within the editor panel.
Simply fill out the fields you wish to use, and when a user clicks on that shape on the front-end map, the dynamic info-window will appear.
Once saved this information will automatically appear if a user clicks on your shape.
Please note, this is automatically disabled if a shape does not have any content to show, meaning if no title/description is added the info-window for that shape will not open.
Can I Disable Info Windows on Shapes #
Sometimes you might want the data to be stored on your shapes, but you may not want the user to be able to interact with these on the frontend.
To disable shape info-windows navigate as follows:
Maps > Edit your map > Settings > Behaviour > Shapes > Disable Shape InfoWindows
