When you purchase an official add-on for WP Go Maps, you will receive a license key with your purchase. This key is required for automatic updates and linking domains to your account.
Managing your license key is a simple, one-time step that ensures you receive seamless support and the latest software updates.
Activating Your License Key for Automatic Updates #
To activate your license and enable convenient, one-click updates directly within your WordPress dashboard, you must register your license key to your domain.
This license should have been provided to your along with your purchase confirmation email, if not, you can find it in your account on our website.
Linking your License #
One you have installed the plugin, please navigate as follows:
Maps > Settings > License
Add your license key to the appropriate version/add-on that you want to link and save your settings:
If the license was linked successfully, the license will show valid next to the field. Alternatively, if an issue was encountered, more details will be shared with you here.
What Happens Next? Activating your license key links your specific domain to our update server. This connection allows us to immediately push future updates and security patches directly to your WordPress Admin area, just like any other plugin you manage.
License Purpose #
It is important to understand the role of the license key in the operation of your add-on.
License Keys DO NOT Limit Functionality! The license key is not a requirement for the plugin’s features to work. If you install an add-on, its features will function immediately, even without a license key.
The sole purpose of the license key is for Update Delivery. By using the key, you:
- Allow your plugin to receive automatic updates via the WordPress Admin area.
- Ensure that we can prioritize and serve updates efficiently to valid license holders.
If you choose not to enter a key, you will have to manually download and upload every future version, which is not recommended.
Locating Your License Key in the Account Area #
If you have lost your confirmation email or do not know your license key, you can always find it in your dedicated customer account area.
- Visit our dedicated Customer Account Area
- Login using the credentials you previously created
- First Time User? If you have never used the account area before, simply register a new account using the exact email address you used for your original purchase. The system will automatically link all your transactions, licenses, and downloads to that new account.
- Once logged in, your will be able to see a complete overview of your licenses and purchases and access tools including:
- All linked domains
- Your license keys and their status
- The ability to generate new download links for your add-ons as needed
- The ability to request updated invoices
Unlinking and Removing a Domain #
If you move your website to a new domain or wish to use your license on a different test or staging site, you will need to remove the license link from the old domain.
In order to remove a domain from your account you will need to reach out to us requesting the removal, with the following details:
- License Key
- Purchase Email Address
- Domain to remove
Our expert team will action the removal as quickly as possible. Remember, before you request removal of a linked domain, you should also remove the license from that domain under Maps > Settings > License to ensure it does not automatically relink the key the next time the site loads.
In the future, we intend on adding domain management tools to the account area, which means you will be able to unlink, remove or block domains from your license key more easily without assistance.
