Hi

I read documentation, but I didn’t find any answer related to my problem. I would like to offer our visitors a search. Search on markers.
I.e. i have a marker with Title and Description. I went and enabled Store locator and hide some fields, so only search box left .. but this seearch box is not searching titles and descriptions but rather places on google maps.

Can you please help me please? Thank you

Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch with us, we do appreciate your time.

To search markers by their titles, please may you ensure the “Enable title search” setting is enabled in the “Store Locator” tab of your Map Editor (Maps -> Maps -> Edit -> Store Locator tab)? Note that you will also require a location to be entered when searching for markers by their title, as the location is used as a base location to search on your map.

With regards to searching for markers by their descriptions, unfortunately this is currently not supported, however this will be looked into for the future.

I hope this answers your questions?

Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kindest Regards,
Matthew

Hi again,

That is not a problem at all, and we do hope it helps.

My apologies for that, the follow-up emails do appear to be working on our end, however, we will look into this.

Kind Regards,
Matthew

Hello! I’m having the same issue. When I do a research on my map, nothing happens at all. The option locator by title is activated but didn’t do absolutely nothing.

I didn’t understand when you say
Note that you will also require a location to be entered when searching for markers by their title, as the location is used as a base location to search on your map.
– Do I need the store address to research for a store name? The user will not do that…

This is my map:

Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch, and my apologies for the inconvenience experienced.

I have taken a look at your site and it appears that the Title Search setting is not enabled for your map. Please could I kindly ask if you may enable the “Enable title search” setting (Maps -> Maps -> Edit -> Store Locator) so that I may take a closer look at how the title search feature is behaving on your map?

With regards to my previous response that you have quoted, it means that both the location and title fields for the Store Locator need to have values in order for the search to take place. As you mentioned that the user will not enter a location when searching for a marker name in the store locator search box, you may enter a default location if possible in the “Default address” setting (Maps -> Maps -> Edit -> Store Locator).

Alternatively, users can search for a marker title using the search field on your advanced marker listing table.

I hope this answers your question?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Kindest Regards,
Matthew

Hello everyone,

I found a possible solution for it. As default address you can also save a country (country name) then it shows all markers in the given country.

Is there also the possibility to track the user searches? I mean if the user types into the search field “bakery” can a track those search phrases? If I would use e.g. Matomo I know it would not work as the search does not create a search URL.

Kind regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your input in this thread.

Yes we do have the ability to restrict searches to a specific country. This can be done with the “Restrict to country” setting (Maps -> Edit -> Settings -> Store Locator -> Advanced / Maps -> Edit -> Store Locator).

We are also looking into introducing the ability to restrict to multiple countries in the future.

With regards to your second question, unfortunately tracking the user’s searches is not supported.

I hope this answers your question?

Kindest Regards,
Matthew
