I tried to import a CSV file with marker data. I want to use “Automatically geocode adresses to GPS co-ordinates…”. In the example CSV file I deleted the lat and lng and uploaded the CSV file at Marker Data. Before I set the button for automatically geocode adresses to GPS and inserted the API Key for “Google Maps Geocoding API”.
I get following error message from google:
“That’s an error. Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request. That’s all we know. Unable to get location data for https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?sensor=true&key= AIzaSyBi_maq9Q907y7T8wN9q1sMMtXnHQ2hMpA &address=18+Beacon+Street%2C+Boston%2C+United+States’>18+Beacon+Street%2C+Boston%2C+United+States
Also I get the message “Your CSV file has been successfully imported” but no data were imported.
How can I fix this error?

Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Could you send me this csv file in private reply so I’ll have a look at it?
Thank you for your time in this.

I tested this file on my web server and it works as expected.
Please note that it may not work on localhost. Use it on web server.
Please enable also Google Maps Geocoding API in your project as it states in this documentation: https://www.wpgmaps.com/documentation/how-to-generate-a-google-maps-geocoding-api-key/
Hope that helps.

What do you mean with “Please note that it may not work on localhost. Use it on web server.”? The Google Maps Geocoding API should not be the problem.

I mean that when this is tested locally on localhost server (MAMP, WAMP) then it may cause some errors. If you are using it on your server and website then this file should work.
If you are still having any issues with this would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account on your site so I can login and look further into this for you? Please send your reply as private.

It seems the URL to Google Maps API was broken because of the space added before API key. I changed this on your server. Please try to upload the file again and let me know how it goes.
