    Hello,

I have a Google Sheets spreadsheet that we have been using to import map data for a while now. We always use the “Use map ID’s specified in file” option, which used to work. But recently, importing this file creates a new map rather than overwriting the one specified in the map_id column.

    Here is the spreadsheet:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12bm7bUMROBzgagfgsdv3Q2OEnOWTjxYKQ6JQRO8gXd0/

A second problem: I am trying to assign multiple categories to a single map marker. I know how to do that using the web interface, and I was able to do it using a CSV file by wrapping the categories in quotation marks (e.g. “1,2”).

However, I can’t get this to work properly directly from Google Sheets, so that we don’t have to export to .csv every time we need to import the data. Is this possible? (It seems as though Sheets adds extra quotation marks to cells that have the text format, which may be part of the problem…)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch with us, we do appreciate your time.

Our apologies for that, however, it should still use the map_id column in your sheet as this functionality was not changed in recent updates. As your sheet only contains map ID 5, to ensure that your markers are being imported to the correct map, please enable the “Apply import data to” import option and then only enable your Map ID 5 accordingly.

With regards to assigning multiple categories to a marker when importing, you simply need to add the category IDs separated by commas. No additional quotation marks are needed as the importer will automatically do this.

    An example would be:
    1,2,3,4

I hope this helps and answers your question?

    Kindest Regards,
    Matthew

    Thanks Matthew!

I just tried creating a brand new file from the import template.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yq2e8p-6RQ8B9LOuXvctUqxtpTV0PHtCLjH2SZsdmM4/

Good news: the map_id column worked correctly, so that issue seems to be resolved. (Not sure what’s causing the problem with the other file though.)

Bad news: the multiple categories didn’t work. I entered 1,2 in that column for one row, but that map marker has no categories applied to it after the import. (Rows with only one category worked correctly.)

    Any ideas?

    Hi there,

Thank you for your response and time on this, I really appreciate it!

Thank you for the confirmation regarding the map ID columns.

With regards to the categories, I have run a few tests and it appears that the category column containing a comma is not being encapsulated correctly, thus we will need to look into this accordingly.

In the meantime, may I ask if you may change 1,2 to "1,2" and confirm if that helps?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Kindest Regards,
    Matthew Lau

    Thanks Matthew!

I just changed the text in that cell to “1,2”, did a URL import, and got the same result (no categories applied for that row).

Just to see what would happen, I also tried downloading that file as a .csv from Google Sheets and imported it without making any changes, which did correctly apply both categories for that row.

    Hi there,

Thank you for your response and time on this..

Thank you for the confirmation, thus we have also found that the normal file source import works as expected.

Unfortunately this would be a bug that we would need to resolve in a future update, thus in the meantime, could we kindly ask if you may import your sheet using the CSV file type method if needed until this is resolved.

Thank you for your time and patience on this, it is much appreciated.

    Kindest Regards,
    Matthew

Hello, I noticed in your changelog that this bug was marked as fixed in v10.0.06 from 2026-04-15. I’m currently on v10.1.09 and I just tried again and experienced the same problem — markers with two comma-separated categories had no categories after importing using a Google Sheets URL. (As before, importing the same file exported to csv format worked just fine.)
