    Hi,

It appears that the wp-google-maps-nl_NL.po/mo translation files, which I’ve copied from
/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/languages to /wp-content/languages earlier, now have been superseded by new ones in the /wp-content/languages folder. I’m not sure how this process works and how this update is initiated and by whom.

The new files are missing a specific translation (see below), so it seems, and my “Routebeschrijving” in the InfoWindow is back to “Get directions”. The PO files look very different, but I only noticed the “Get directions”.

    msgid “Get directions”
    msgstr “Routebeschrijving”

I have copied the files again from /wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/languages into /wp-content/languages, and the issue is solved for now. However, I assume they will be overwritten again.

Do you have any advice on this issue?

    Thanks,

    Rudi

    Hi Rudi,

Thank you so much for getting in touch, we really appreciate your time.

Generally, WordPress will take the translation files from the plugin and add them to the mentioned folder to be read from so updating these as you have done will be correct.

The plugin translations don’t get updated all too often so these will remain as is and there should be no need to update these again until the translations are updated in the future.

    I hope this helps?

    Kindest Regards,
    Steven De Beer

    Thanks Steven.

I’ll look into it. Our site supports 3 languages: NL, DE and EN. I also have to look into the “Website” field which can be changed in the user interface. I’ll park the issue for now, I have some bigger fish to fry :-).
    Thanks for the fast support.

    Rudi
