    Hello,

    we have a Problem regarding the German Translation, in particular the Directions part. The Plugin does not seem to pick up the wp-google-maps-de_DE.po/mo files. When I change the Site Language to Italian, all the Strings are translated, including Directions. Even if i change the Site Language to German(Swiss) or German Formal and change the file Names accordingly (de_DE to de_CH or de_DE_formal), the plugin picks them up and translates Directions to German. We need the Site Language to be German(de_DE) and only in that setting it does not work. Do you have any suggestions what to do? Is it a bug? I also tried disabling other Plugins but no luck.

    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for getting in touch with us.

    Can you please confirm if all the Directions related strings are translated in the wp-google-maps-de_DE.po file?

    Additionally, could I kindly ask you to confirm which versions of the plugin you currently have installed?

    Looking forward to your response and assisting you further.

    Kind regards,
    Dylan

    Hi Dylan,

    yes all strings are translated in wp-google-maps-de_DE.po. Otherwise it would not work when renaming the file to wp-google-maps-de_CH.po and change the site language to de_CH.

    Plugin Versions: 7.0.01
    Pro: Version 7.06

    Kind Regards,
    Michael

    Hi Dylan,
    same issue here (also german language)

    I have found the reason:
    In ../wp-content/languages/plugins there are two files:
    wp-google-maps-de_DE.mo (41.738)
    wp-google-maps-de_DE.po (61.696)

    Additionally there are two files:
    wp-google-maps-de_DE_v2.mo (26.610)
    wp-google-maps-de_DE_v2.po (184.972)

    in ../wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/languages there are the same files, but with different file size:
    wp-google-maps-de_DE.mo (42.219)
    wp-google-maps-de_DE.po (192.337)

    After deleting the two files in ../wp-content/languages/plugins the german translation is ok, but then there is an issue in dashboard -> update: Showing the message “New translations available”. After carrying out the update the (wrong) files (see above) are available and the translation doesn`t work.

    Best regards,
    Hans-Gerd

    Hi Ed,
    I’m happy, that I could help you.
    But be careful, because after carrying out the update of any plugin, the issue is the same as before and you have to delete the files once more for the moment.

    So I hope, that the developer of WP google maps find a solution for that issue.

    Best regards,
    Hans-Gerd

    Hi,
    a better solution in the meantime seem to be to copy following files from ../wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/languages to ../wp-content/languages/plugins.

    wp-google-maps-de_DE.mo (42.219)
    wp-google-maps-de_DE.po (192.337)

    In that case the message “New translations available” will not be shown.

    Best regards,
    Hans-Gerd

    Hi Hans-Gerd,

    thank you very much for your workaround. It works for me too. Lets hope this will be fixed in the next release.

    If anyone is interested, the “solution” from WP-Google-Maps was to add this in in wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps-pro/js/:

    jQuery(document).ready(function($){
    $(‘.wpgmza_gd’).html(‘Routeokaber’);
    $(‘.wpgmaps_get_directions’).val(‘Los’);
    $(‘[for=”wpgmza_dir_type_1″]’).html(‘Fur’);
    $(‘[for=”wpgmza_input_from_1″]’).html(‘Von’);
    $(‘[for=”wpgmza_input_to_1″]’).html(‘Nach’);

    $(‘#wpgmza_show_options_1’).html(‘Optionen anzeigen’);
    $(‘#wpgmza_hide_options_1’).html(‘Optionen verstecken’);

    $(‘[value=”DRIVING”]’).html(‘Fahren’);
    $(‘[value=”WALKING”]’).html(‘Gehen’);
    $(‘[value=”TRANSIT”]’).html(‘Transit’);
    $(‘[value=”BICYCLING”]’).html(‘Radfahren’);
    });

    Although not really a solution for me.

    Best regards,
    Michael
