I’m encouraging users to add street view panoramas using Visitor Generated Markers. I noticed a particular glitch that I wanted to point out to you guys.
The URL link field for Visitor Generated Markers is limited to 200 characters, and there are no Street View links that short. In the backend, it seems to be unlimited, but for users trying to add something, it cuts off the URL after 200 characters.
So if a visitor adds this link, (to the Empire State Building):
It gets cut down to a garbled link:
I’m trying to find the source file to fix it myself, but you might want to consider removing the limit altogether or making it much larger in your next update.
Here’s the code, courtesy of Google Chrome “Inspect Element”:
<input id=”wpgmza_ugm_add_address_1″ name=”wpgmza_ugm_add_address” type=”text” size=”35″ maxlength=”200″ value=”” placeholder=”Marker Address” autocomplete=”off”>
So where’s that source file?
Note, you don’t have that limit on the backend.

Thank you for getting in touch, sorry to hear you are experiencing issues.
Thanks for your comprehensive report. We can see that field is being truncated in spite of the database allowing up to 700 characters.
What we’ve done is upped the limit to 2083 characters (legacy Internet Explorers maximum length) in both the database, and in the maxlength attribute for that input.
You can go ahead and do that in your database and in the file wp-google-maps-ugm.php on (or around) line 688.
We’ve already made these changes at our end, so these new limits won’t be removed when you update.
If you’d prefer us to send you a pre-release rather than making the changes yourself, we would be quite happy to do so, please just let us know.
Does that help?
