First of all, I downloaded the sample csv file on the Export/Import directions page here http://wp-google-maps-codecabin.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/csv_example.csv.csv, and it is missing fields as I discovered later, which I am not sure if it matters as it is the last few columns.
I set up my Google API and it is enabled. I have about 4,155 store locations to import. The client is using Bluehost VPS, which when we launch the site it will be on a different server. The import just churns and nothing happens. And it shows what you see here: http://jonesnaturalchews.net/site/store-locator/ Oops, something went wrong, etc.
I did see that we can use an xml file if we have a lot of markers, and I would try that if I could, but I cannot find any documentation on it anywhere as to what the format should be (or if I can even do that with 4,155 markers).
Please let me know what I can do to import as there is not enough time in the world to manually enter 4,155 markers.
(I did try a small 100 marker sample and the screen briefly flashed with all the data, then said it was done, and it says there is no data)

October 19, 2017 at 1:22 am #31381giraffewebMemberApparently I was trying too fast to wait for the Google API to become active and I cannot import 4,155 all at once. I tested again with 100 and only 53 were imported and then another batch and not all were imported. I don’t know if that is a server issue or the data has some bad characters and is being skipped over. I am going to mess with it some more before I need any help, I think.
However, I still want to know how to convert the file to xml so it will be readable by the program if you have any directions for that, please send me the link. Thanks.
October 19, 2017 at 10:09 am #31391PerryModeratorHi there
Thank you for getting in touch with us!
4,155 is a lot of markers to be importing, however it should easily import 100 on any server.
Could I please ask if you’re using the “Geocode address” option?
If that is the case, you could try setting your servers PHP time limit to -1 (unlimited) then letting it run to completion. As a last resort you could try using another bulk geocoder and then import the data with that option off.
Could you possibly attach your CSV file so I can try to import it in my development environment? Please be sure to set your reply to private if the data is sensitive.
Regarding the XML file, I would strongly recommend you don’t use that. The XML file is an internal cache, it’s not intended to be used by an outside source – even time you click “Save map” this cache file is regenerated from the DB, so it would overwrite any changes you’d made to the XML file. This is the reason there isn’t any documentation on working with it.
Kind regards

If you could send me the CSV I’d be more than happy to run an import on my development machine and I’ll correct it if there are any problems. If you’re still unable to import then I can send you a dump of the MySQL tables for our plugin (eg the converted data)
If that’s not possible please let me know how you get on?
Kind regards

I’m really sorry for the delay in responding, I didn’t receive a notification saying you’d replied, my apologies.
For your information, I’m just importing this data at my end, because the addresses need to be geocoded this might take a minute, I’ll be back in touch within the hour
Kind regards

The rest of the csv files imported just fine. thanks for your help.

If you want to send me the file with the missing 57 in I’d be more than happy to look into it, that’s a lot of manual work.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Kind regards
